St. Edward Early Childhood Classes

Welcome to the St. Edward's Early Childhood classes. We offer a three day program in the morning and afternoon for three and young four-year-olds.  A daily morning or a four-day afternoon program is offered for older fours and five-year-olds.

I have taught at St. Edward School for seven years.  Prior to that I taught within our CVCS School System.  I teach the 4/5 year old preschoolers.  My classroom is in room 104 in the St. Edward school building.  This year I am working on our CVCS Early Childhood curriculum committee to develop a new curriculum for our preschool classrooms.  I am looking forward to this school year.

During my time off from school, I enjoy spending time with my three children and husband Steve.  My hobbies include: scrapbooking, playing Scrabble, reading and swimming.

This is my sixth year at St. Edward's School.   I teach both a morning and an afternoon 3- and 4-year-old class.  These little folks sure know how to enjoy life and to enjoy learning.  They make each day different and special.  Each one learns so much from the time he/she spends playing as well as working.
Before moving to Waterloo, I taught Kindergarten in Iowa Falls for many years.
I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa and I continue to enjoy classes and activities at the college.    My husband Rick and I like to go biking on trails and to go camping.  I also enjoy sewing and reading.  My biggest thrill is to travel to California to visit my two children, their spouses and my grandchildren.

My goal for your child is to enhance the literacy development so every child will be ready to read.  I hope to instill a love of learning through enjoyable developmentally appropriate experiences. The Early Childhood team will be developing and implementing Creative Curriculum as a guide and resource to achieve your child's potential.

Hello families.  Sorry this has taken me so long to update but the school year started out a little crazy.  Let me introduce myself.  My name is Ann Cutshall.  This is my second year at St. Ed's.  My husband and i live south of Allison on a farm with our four children, 18,14, 11, and 8.  We are kept busy driving children to their different activities and watching them play football, soccer, do cheerleading, karate, band, piano. and whatever else we have time for.  I look forward to a great year in getting to know you and your child.

We will start the year out learning about our selves and how special each and everyone of us is.  We will then move into apples, fire safety, and pumpkins.  During school we will be working on learning our colors, shapes, letters, numbers, and how to get along with one another and learning how to behave in a school setting.  Please remember that you can contact me by email or phone.

Waterloo Public Library
Traveling Tales.
Once a month a volunteer from the Waterloo Public Library visits the preschool classes.  She brings books to read, flannel board stories and a puppet.  Books around a theme are left for us to keep in our room for the month.  We look forward to starting this program in October.  What a great introduction to books and the library for our students.
